Level 2 Award in Health & Safety In The Workplace (QCF)

Aim of the course is to provide essential knowledge and understanding of health and safety in the workplace.

At the end of the course you will:

Understand roles and responsibilities for health, safety and welfare in the workplace

Understand how risk assessments contribute to health and safety

Understand how to identify and control the risks from common workplace hazards

Know the procedures for responding to accidents and incidents in the workplace.

This course is for all employees.

The course is divided into four interactive modules:

Module 1 – Roles and Responsibilities. Learners will be introduced to the legal duties on employers and employees and will consider the

consequences of non-compliance. They will also consider the requirements to ensure competency of workers by way of training and

information.

Module 2 – Risk Assessment. In this module learners will consider what risk assessments are and will be introduced to the risk assessment

process.

Module 3 – Identifying and controlling risks. Learners will be introduced to the concept of a hierarchy of risk control. They will then follow a

picture story journey of an inspector and a manager through a workplace identifying and fixing hazards as they go.

Module 4 – Accidents and Incidents. In this module learners will explore the causes of accidents and will learn what to do following an accident.

They will also learn about incident reporting, first aid arrangements and what to do in an emergency situation (such as fire).

Throughout the course, learners use a range of e-learning interactions including questions and quizzes, hazard spotting and free text entry

activities.

Each module ends with a knowledge-based multiple-choice question called a ‘check-point’ – testing one aspect of the learning from the

module.
