Level 1 Award in Health & Safety In The Workplace (QCF)

The aim of the course is to make the workplace a healthier and safer place to work.

At the end of the course you will:

Understand the importance of health and safety in the workplace

Understand the scope of hazards and risks in the workplace

Understand the range of workplace conditions that can affect health and safety

Understand the requirements for workplace procedures.

This course is for those new to the workplace and provides basic knowledge and understanding of health and safety.

The course is divided into four interactive modules:

Module 1 – The basics. Learners will understand what health and safety means and will be introduced to the legal duties on employers and

employees for protecting people from harm.

Module 2 – Hazards and Risks. In this module learners will be introduced to the concept of workplace hazards and will learn about some

common hazards and how they can cause harm.

Module 3 – Workplace health and safety. Learners will use a 3D graphic model to recognise a number of workplace and welfare issues. They will

also learn about the various safety signs in place in workplaces and how they are intended to reduce risks.

Module 4 – Workplace procedures. This module explains the typical procedures that organisations will have in place to keep workers safe and

healthy, including emergency actions, first aid, incident reporting and personal protection.

Throughout the course, learners use a range of e-learning interactions including questions and quizzes, drag and drop interactions, hazard

spotting and free text entry activities.

Each module ends with a knowledge-based multiple-choice question called a ‘check-point’ – testing one aspect of the learning from the

module.

Assessment

Is a 20-question multiple-choice examination which is available online or paper-based.
