Level 2 Award in Principles of Fire Safety (QCF)
The aim of the course is to provide essential knowledge and understanding of fire prevention and fire protection principles.
At the end of the course you will:

Understand the hazards and risks associated with fire in the workplace
•
Understand how fire risk is controlled in the workplace
•
Understand the principles and practice of fire safety management at work
•
Understand the role of the nominated fire warden.
This course is for All employees
The course is divided into four interactive modules:
Module 1 – Fire Basics. In this module learners will explore how fires start and spread through buildings. An interactive 3D scenario is used to
provide hazard spotting practice for the learner.
Module 2 – Controlling the risks. Learners will be introduced to the concepts and differences of fire prevention and fire protection. They will
understand how their actions can prevent fires and will learn how fires can be extinguished by way of fire extinguishers or fixed installations
(sprinkler systems).
Module 3 – Fire Safety Management. This module deals with employer and employee duties in law as well as how to conduct fire safety
inspections and carry out fire risk assessments. It also shows learners what to include in staff fire safety briefings.
Module 4 – Fire Wardens. This module introduces the role and function of the Fire Warden (or Fire Marshall). Learners will engage with a
photo-story following a fire warden during an evacuation.
Throughout the course, learners use a range of e-learning interactions including questions and quizzes, drag and drop interactions and free text
entry activities.
Each module ends with a knowledge-based multiple-choice question called a ‘check-point’ – testing one aspect of the learning from the
module.
Assessment
Is a 30-question multiple-choice examination which is available online or paper-based.
